Prophecy:

God foretells the future accurately and consistently.  The prophecies in the following examples are found in the Old Testament; however, the fulfillment of these prophecies are found in the New Testament.  The fulfillment of the prophecies occurred many years later.  There are many prophecies in the Bible.

Prophecy examples:

Micah prophesied during the time period from 725-700 B.C. Micah 5:2 (Old Testament):

“But as for you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, too little to be among the clans of Judah, From you One will go forth for Me to be ruler in Israel. His goings forth are from long ago, from the days of eternity.”

⁴  Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the city of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David
⁵  in order to register along with Mary, who was engaged to him, and was with child
⁷  And she gave birth to her firstborn son; and she wrapped Him in cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.

Isaiah (Date: 740-680 B.C.) Isaiah was a prophet who was martyred. 

Isaiah 7:14 (Old Testament)

“Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign:  Behold, a virgin will be with child and bear a son, and she will call His name Immanuel."

Fulfillment of prophecy
Luke 1:26,27,30,31 (New Testament)

²⁶  Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city in Galilee called Nazareth,
²⁷  to a virgin engaged to a man whose name was Joseph, of the descendants of David; and the virgin's name was Mary.
³⁰  The angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Mary; for you have found favor with God.
³¹  "And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name Him Jesus."

He was despised and forsaken of men, a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief; 
And like one from whom men hide their face, He was despised, and we did not esteem Him.

Fulfillment of prophecy
John 1:11 (New Testament)

He came to His own, and those who were His own did not receive Him.

Then they spat in His face and beat Him with their fists; and others slapped Him.

³⁶  And sitting down, they began to keep watch over Him there.
